Amongst many other minor feasts in June, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnities of Corpus Christi and Saints Peter and Paul. Here at Ten Ten,  we’ve created two new resources to help you to prayerfully mark these significant occasions!

Come, Let Us Adore Him

Corpus Christi, or The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, celebrates Jesus’ greatest gift to us – His very self in the Blessed Sacrament.

This year, Corpus Christi will be celebrated in England and Wales on Sunday 11th June.

Our special prayer resource introduces children to the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, a special time of prayer when the Blessed Sacrament is displayed on the altar, and everyone is welcome to spend time in Jesus’ presence.

Children are invited to identify and name items they might see in a church and then use clues from the monstrance to discover why and how we adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

There are two guided meditations included: one allowing children to practise responding to this miracle in their own classrooms and another to be used in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament (where this is possible in your school or local parish).

The Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ celebrates Jesus’ greatest gift to us - His very self in the Blessed Sacrament. When the Blessed Sacrament is displayed on the altar, this is called the Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament; a special time when everyone is welcome to spend time in prayer, to be still in Jesus’ presence. This special prayer resource helps children to use clues from the monstrance to discover why and how we adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and invites them to practise responding to this miracle through a short, guided meditation.

Our Pope in Rome

Each year, the Solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul falls on the 29th June. On this special feast day, the Catholic Church celebrates the lives of two great saints, St Peter and St Paul.

They share a feast day because of their huge influence on the Early Church: St Paul as a missionary and teacher, and St Peter, the Apostle to whom Jesus entrusted ‘the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven’ (Matthew 16:19).

Our special prayer resource focuses on the legacy of St Peter, the first Pope. It simply explains apostolic succession, what happens when a Pope dies or retires, and highlights the lives of the three most recent Popes (Pope Saint John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and Pope Francis).
