At the end of each academic year, we intend to summarise the changes we have made to our Life to the Full Secondary Programme so as to keep you up to date.
Year 9 and Year 10 Content Changes
The biggest change this year has been to our Year 9 and Year 10 content. With brand new presenters and videos, this content takes a deeper look at some of the challenges young people are facing in the area of sex and relationships. We have incorporated some hard-hitting topics into this new version of the programme:
- Sexual harassment and sexist behaviour (9.7 Human Rights and Wrongs)
- Grooming and Stalking (10.6 Abuse)
- FGM, Forced Marriage and Honour-Based Violence (10.7 Solidarity)
The Programme Structure
The creation of new content also provided the opportunity for us to update the structure of the programme. The other year groups will follow the same structure as the new Year 10 content. Across the country, schools use the programme in a variety of different ways. The new programme structure format will provide more flexibility to make it work in your context, as well as future-proof the programme and provide the flexibility for us to respond to any changes in the statutory guidance.
Legacy Content
Although the legacy Year 10 content will be available for the 2025-26 academic year, the legacy Year 9 content will no longer be available from September 2025.
Student Booklets
To support your teaching of the new content, we have created Student Booklets for Year 9 and 10. These are now available on the Lesson Planning page of your Life to the Full.
Year 8 Amendments
8.2 Appreciating Difference
A note has been added to the theme plan that makes reference to the Bishop’s Conference document ‘Intricately Woven by the Lord’, in which some of the principles of Catholic teaching are articulated. There have also been some small script changes in Unit 3: Gender Identity. The Parent Portal Video that accompanies this Theme has been updated accordingly.
8.4 Before I Was Born
A new session note for teachers entitled Human Life Begins at Conception | Religious Belief or Scientific Fact? has been added that explains and provides citations for the fact that human life begins at conception. It explains how this fact underpins the Catholic teaching that every human being, from the first moment, is worthy of having their life protected.
8.7 Wider World
This session deals with homosexuality and discrimination. Unit 3 explains Catholic Church teaching on the place of sex within heterosexual marriage. For clarity, we have made some minor edits to the video content.

Why is pornography a problem?
On Thursday 19th October 2023 Ten Ten Resources will be live-streaming a discussion session for parents and carers of children in KS2 and KS3 on the subject of pornography. Commissioned by the Catholic Education Service, this session is available free of charge and will be live streamed at 9.15am, 3.30pm and 6.00pm.
