The Autumn Overview of Collective Worship resources is now available online to enable schools to get a head start on planning for the new academic year. This can be accessed from the Collective Worship homepage. The Autumn 2023 Overview can also be downloaded as a print-ready poster.

As usual, the Autumn Overview includes a brief summary of the weekly Assembly and Daily Prayers, which are inspired by the Sunday Gospels.

From September, individual resources can be viewed two weeks in advance, which we hope will enable teachers to look ahead at resources and  have more time to prepare children for drama and prayer leading roles.

Music for Worship

Each week we suggest traditional and contemporary worship music for optional use, all linked to the Gospel theme and downloadable in PDF form on the Collective Worship homepage.

The Autumn 2023 – Ten Ten Collective Worship Spotify playlist including all traditional and contemporary worship music can be accessed from the homepage or by scanning the QR code.

New for September 2023 – An Introduction to Collective Worship for EYFS Children

Currently, our weekly Daily Prayer resources includes a special EYFS version of the slides, which just contains images and the text for the prayers is provided in the Speaker Notes. This enables teachers to easily adapt the content as appropriate for the age and stage of their class.

Feedback from schools has inspired us to consider how to promote and develop an understanding of prayer at the very beginning of a child’s school experience, especially with children who are unfamiliar with some of the concepts, actions, words and practices involved in Catholic  prayer.

We have been working in partnership with EYFS teachers to create An Introduction to Collective Worship for EYFS – a resource designed to welcome and gradually familiarise the youngest members of our school communities with prayer and worship. The step-by-step six week programme of resources aims to assist EYFS practitioners in developing prayerful practices in the classroom and laying firm foundations of faith and personal prayer in their pupils.

This new resource will be available in August 2023, ready to be used at the beginning of September with new EYFS classes.
