Assembly: Seeking and Offering Support
RSE Programme - Secondary Schools
Following the Ten Ten session which included the film, “Facts of Life”, this assembly gives schools an opportunity to talk about avenues through which students can discuss sensitive and potentially harmful social situations that they are facing within their school community. It also encourages students to act sensitively and kindly when another student is having a difficult time.
Key Point / Learning Objective
Students will develop skills to help them act sensitively and kindly towards others who are having a difficult time, and they will also know where they can go in the school if they themselves are facing a difficult or harmful social situation.
- I can demonstrate how I would relate to and help a student who is facing a difficult time.
- I know who to talk to in the school if I am experiencing a harmful social situation.
- Teacher Script
- PowerPoint presentation (including films)
Please identify the pastoral support structure available in your school and add this information to PowerPoint slide 6.
Please take a little time to read through the ‘Teaching’ elements of the assembly so you can put it into your own words.

How to play the films
Most of our video content is provided in the Windows Media Video (.wmv) format as this is the best fitting format for most school computers. If you use a Mac computer, you may like to consider downloading a plugin so it can play .wmv files. Here are two links to plugins. Please note that they are external plugins and Ten Ten cannot guarantee that they will work on your local machines. The plugin costs $9.99.
