Are You Listening?
w/c 18 & 25 February 2019
Liturgical Year: 7th Sunday in Ordinary Time
Gospel: Luke 6: 27-38
This week's Gospel tells us to love our enemies and bless those who curse us. Before teaching this, Jesus says, “I say this to you who are listening.” If we have the courage to listen seriously to Jesus’ words, we will find that they are very challenging!
To understand Jesus' words and follow His Word in our lives, we need to listen well. So, how do we listen to Jesus? How do we know what we should think, say and do in our day to day lives?
One of the best ways is by listening to Jesus in the words of the Bible - God's living Word. This week, each day's prayer will help children to listen to what God is asking of them and apply it to each moment of their day.
Each day is based on a different verse from Sunday's Gospel:
Monday: "Treat others as you would like them to treat you"
Tuesday: "Give to everyone who asks you"
Wednesday: "Love your enemies and do good"
Thursday: "Do not judge, and you will not be judged yourselves"
Friday: "Pray for those who treat you badly"
HOW TO LEAD
Music plays automatically which continues across all slides.
Follow the text on screen, where children ask for Jesus’ help to listen to Him.
The prayer leader should read the text on this slide slowly and reflectively. Children listen to Jesus' words from the Gospel and consider what it means in their own lives while listening to the music. After the short reflection, pose the question and allow a pause.
Finish by saying the prayer on the slide together.
