Liturgical Year: Feast of All Saints
Gospel: Matthew 5:1-12
This week’s Daily Classroom Prayer helps introduce pupils to the Beatitudes through reflecting on the lives of the saints. The Beatitudes all start with ‘Happy’ – Jesus is teaching us what can bring true happiness. Pupils are invited to consider how they can apply the teaching of Jesus in the Beatitudes to their lives today.
How to Lead
Before you start each day:
Prepare a simple prayer focus, for example a white cloth for All Saints, a candle and an open Bible (at Matthew 5) to help engage the children. Invite the children to gather around the prayer focus, with a good view of the IWB for the presentation each day.
Link with home:
You may wish to invite your pupils to bring images/statues of saints from home into the classroom to add to the prayer focus. The pupils might like to explain why the saint is important to their family.
Structure for each day:
• Introduction to beatitude through the lives of the saints or the words of Pope Francis.
• Reflect on the beatitude and apply it to our lives.
• A prayer.
All the text that you will need is on the slides. You might like to choose a pupil each day to read the slides or ask an adult working in the classroom.
