Daily Classroom Prayers
w/c 24 February 2020
‘If anyone orders you to go one mile, go two miles with him. Give to anyone who asks and if anyone wants to borrow do not turn away. But I say this to you: love your enemies and pray for those who hurt you.’
Matthew 5: 38-48
Inspired by the Gospel passage above, this week’s theme is generosity. These prayers are based on a traditional ‘Examen’, asking reflective questions to help children consider the place of generosity in their daily encounters with others.
How to Lead
- Print or open Appendix 1 - Prayer Leader Sheet.
- Settle the children ready to listen, then play the music on Slide 1 of the PowerPoint presentation and navigate to the day’s slide.
- From Appendix 1, slowly read each day’s questions over the music, pausing to allow children time to reflect.
-You might like to vary the voices heard by nominating child Prayer Leaders to help read the questions.
- On Friday, after the questions, read the prayer of St Ignatius. You may like to invite the children to say the prayer after you.
Ten Ten have produced a short training film for teachers on how to lead The Examen. You can watch it here: The Examen
