Daily Classroom Prayers
w/c 13 January 2020
This week we celebrate the Baptism of the Lord, where God revealed Jesus as His beloved son who He is very pleased with. The prayers this week help children to know that God invites us into His family as His sons and daughters too. He says to each of us, “you are welcome,” meaning that our offerings of our prayers, our art and ourselves are welcome and acceptable to God.
Each day children will listen to a short reading from the mass of the Baptism of the Lord and hear a reflection on it to help them apply it to their own lives. Then there is a moment for children to respond creatively to God’s word using Appendix 1 – Art Prayer Handout.
(NB If for any reason you do not have time for the creative response, the prayers work without it if you hide Slide 4 each day.)
Ensure you have colouring pens/pencils/crayons available for each day.
How to Lead
There is no designated Prayer Leader this week, but you can ask children to read the prayers/questions on the screen as you wish.
Reiterate the theme ‘You Are Welcome’ and encourage children into an attitude of prayer. You might like to make the Sign of the Cross.
Click to play the voiceover, which reads the verse on screen and a short reflection on it. The voiceover ends with a question or thought, which is shown on Slide 3.
Discuss or facilitate quiet reflection on this question/thought.
Creative response time using Appendix 1 – Art Prayer Handout.
Finish with a final prayer.
