Prayers for Home
w/c 4 January 2021
Liturgical Year: 2nd Sunday of Christmas Cycle: B
Gospel: Matthew 2: 1 – 12
NB. This is the Gospel from the Feast of Epiphany, which falls on Wednesday 6th January.
To coincide with the Feast of Epiphany on Wednesday 6th January, the prayers this week follow the journey of the three wise men.
Each day shares a small part of the Gospel story and relates this to lessons children can apply to their own lives: seeking God, following His guidance, celebrating Him, giving their love to Him and spending time with Him.
EYFS / KS1
How to Lead
The final prayer each day involves children responding to “Lord Hear Us” with “Lord Graciously Hear Us.” You might like to practice this in advance.

Introduce the theme of the day and prepare for the time of prayer.
Read a short section of the Gospel and share a reflective thought about what we can learn from it.
You might like to leave pauses for reflection here.
Finish with a final call and response prayer.
Key Stage Variation
There are two PowerPoints for these prayers, one for EYFS/KS1 which just has one Prayer Leader, and one for KS2 which also involves two child readers.
