Daily Classroom Prayers
Collective Worship for Church of England schools
When Jesus was baptised, the Holy Spirit came down ‘like a dove’ and throughout the Bible, the dove is seen as a symbol of peace. Therefore, this week’s prayers help children to explore this beatitude:
‘Happy the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.’
Pupils will consider what it means to promote peace in their own lives and amongst others, learning that God is the source of all peace.
NB. The Prayer Leader can be a child.
The Prayer Leader reads the text on screen, invites everyone to join in saying the beatitude and asks a question for reflection/discussion. (If the Prayer Leader is a child, the teacher might like to take over the facilitation of any discussion.)
The Prayer Leader offers a further ‘thought for the day’ and an opportunity to welcome God’s peace.
A final prayer for children to say together.
The daily themes are as follows:
Monday – The gift of peace.
Tuesday – Making peace with others.
Wednesday – Supporting others in making peace.
Thursday – Praying for peace in the world.
Friday – God brings us peace and happiness.
